Once enabled, you can either listen or talk through the microphone in the camera and either welcome your friends and family, or scare off intruders. Finally, only the Nest Cam IQ, either indoor or outdoor, also have the ability to recognize a familiar face, and alert you accordingly.
The earlier mentioned "Nest Awareness" comes with a couple more features. With this subscription, you can add up to 30 days of 24/7 video history to your Nest Cam. It alerts you when it hear people talking in range, and you can create "activity zones" which are areas that the Nest Cam will keep a close eye on. It also provides the ability to share video clips and time lapses. All in all a feature worth considering!
